The region’s success and scientific and technological progress are underpinned by the University of the Basque Country, a vibrant 30-year-old institution with 45,000 students, 5,000 world-class academic staff and state-of-the-art facilities. The Master in Light Facades (www.masterfachadasligeras.es) is a title of the School of Architecture of the University of the Basque Country. Its first edition took place in 2007-2008. In 2017, its structure and contents were moved to Madrid and Barcelona in alternate years, with a semi-face-to-face format. Since its inception, the Master’s Degree has emerged from a convergence of interests among professionals in the sector (facades consultants, facade companies, component manufacturers), who observed a progressive increase in the technical requirements of architectural envelopes, reaching a high degree of sophistication, and a gap in training needs.
